Filmmaker Payal Kapadia's highly praised feature film "All We Imagine as Light" is scheduled to make its wallet PLATFORM' target='_blank' title='digital-Latest Updates, Photos, Videos are a click away, CLICK NOW'>digital debut on Disney+ Hotstar on january 3, 2025, as announced by the streaming service on Friday. The film, which received considerable acclaim, had a limited theatrical release in india in September. Notably, "Baahubali" star rana daggubati secured the exclusive distribution rights for the Malayalam-Hindi film in the country.
Kapadia expressed her excitement regarding the film's reception, stating, "After a successful theatrical run, I am happy that it will now be available to watch on Disney+ Hotstar. I am very excited now to share it with a wider audience."
Rohan Lavsi, Head of hindi Movies Entertainment at JioStar, conveyed pride in presenting "All We Imagine As Light" to Disney+ Hotstar viewers. He remarked, "This film is a celebration of indian cinema, talent, and the strength of the human spirit. Payal Kapadia's brilliant direction, combined with stellar performances, makes this masterpiece a powerful and emotionally charged film. The universal themes of love, resilience, and identity have contributed to its international acclaim."

The film made history as the first indian production to win the Grand Prix award at Cannes in May and has since received numerous accolades, including nominations for the Golden Globes in categories such as Best Motion Picture Non-English language and Best Direction - Motion Picture. It was also honored as the Best international Film by the New York Film Critics Circle and received recognition in the same category at the Gotham Awards.

"All We Imagine As Light" delves into the intertwined lives of two Malayali nurses in Mumbai: Prabha (Kani Kusruti), a reserved woman longing for her absent husband, and Anu (Divya Prabha), her vivacious roommate involved in a forbidden romance. Through their friendship, the film poignantly explores themes of love, identity, and the complexities of urban life.
