7kg cabin baggage limit from january 2025..!?

The Ministry of Civil Aviation has recently laid down important rules for carrying handbags. Due to this, passengers traveling on flights have to follow some rules. These rules are said to be applicable to international flights as well as domestic flights. For a smooth journey, you should be aware of the rules implemented.
What are the revised rules?: Passengers traveling on a flight should check if they have any additional items before boarding. Passengers traveling in economy or premium class can carry handbags weighing a maximum of 7 kg. According to a statement by air India, passengers traveling in business class can carry a maximum of 10 kg. According to the new rules, the length and width of a handbag should also be checked. The height of the handbag can be 15.7 inches in length and 7.8 inches in width.

 
Exemptions: It has also been informed that these handbag guidelines will not apply to passengers who have booked flight tickets before May 4, 2024. Such passengers have been exempted from these new guidelines. They can carry 8 kg in economy class, 10 kg in premium economy class, and 12 kg in first or business class. The number of air passengers has been increasing significantly in the last few months. In november 2024, indian airlines carried approximately 14.2 crore passengers on domestic routes. This is an increase of about 12 percent compared to the same period in 2023. According to the latest data from the Ministry of Civil Aviation, the number of domestic air passengers during the months of january to november 2024 was 1,464.02 lakh. This number was 1,382.34 lakh during the months of january to november 2023. This is an increase of about 5.91 percent. Passengers should be aware of such new rules to ensure a smooth journey.
