Former prime minister Dr. manmohan singh died on thursday late evening. After his death, the whole country is in mourning. Dr. manmohan singh was known for his very calm nature and effective decisions. In the year 2012, many parties including BSP were opposing Foreign Direct Investment i.e. FDI. In such a situation, he invited BSP chief mayawati for lunch, after which her stance softened.
This is from the year 2012 when the winter session was about to start, Trinamool Congress's mamta Banerjee had threatened to bring a proposal against the government for allowing FDI in this session. In such a situation, Manmohan government needed the support of parties supporting from outside. manmohan singh knew that the opposition would create a ruckus but he did not want his allies to also be a part of the ruckus, so he invited BSP supremo mayawati to lunch at his home.

On the invitation of the then prime minister, BSP supremo mayawati reached the PM residence in Delhi. After which manmohan singh put forth his point in front of her. After which Mayawati's stance softened. However, mayawati did not give much importance to it in front of the media and said that "Lunch, dinner and meetings happen regularly in politics. These should not be linked to the parliament session." On the other hand, on FDI, she said that her stance will be the same as she had said in the party rally. But her support to the government continued.

BSP supremo mayawati also mourned his death and called him a leader and human being.
