New Year: Know about traffic curbs in Bengaluru!
In anticipation of 2025, the Bengaluru traffic police have issued extensive traffic rules to maintain public safety and control the large number of cars and pedestrians at well-known celebration locations like MG Road, Brigade Road, Mahadevapura, Koramangala, and Indiranagar. From the evening of december 31, 2024, until the early hours of january 1, 2025, these measures will be in force.
Traffic Laws in the Central business District (CBD)
1. Road Closures: From 8 p.m. on december 31, 2024, to 2 a.m. on january 1, 2025, all vehicles—aside from police and emergency service vehicles—will not be allowed to enter the following roads:
• MG Road (the intersection of Residency Road and Anil Kumble Circle)
• Church Street (Brigade Road Junction to Museum Road Junction); • Museum Road (M.G. Road Junction to Old madras bank Road); • Rest house Road (Museum Road Junction to Brigade Road Junction); • Brigade Road (Cauvery Emporium Junction to Opera Junction); • Residency Cross Road to Residency Road Junction (near shankar nag Theatre)
2. Parking Restrictions: The following routes are off-limits to parking from 4 p.m. on december 31, 2024, until 3 a.m. on january 1, 2025:
Brigade Road (Arts & Crafts Junction to Opera Junction) and M G Road (Anil Kumble Circle to Trinity Circle)
• Museum Road (MG Road Junction to Old madras bank Road); Church Street (Brigade Road Junction to St. Marks Road Junction); and Rest house Road (Brigade Road Junction to Museum Road Junction).
3. Pedestrian Movement: On Brigade Road, pedestrians are only permitted to travel in one direction, from MG Road Junction to Opera Junction. Pedestrians must take Residency Road via shankar nag Cinema to go back to MG Road.
The Shivajinagar BMTC Complex (first floor) offers public parking. Alternate traffic arrangements include: • vehicles traveling from Queen's Circle to Halasuru can turn left at Anil Kumble Circle, continue to BRV Junction, and continue via Cubbon Road; • vehicles traveling from Halasuru to Cantonment can turn right at Trinity Circle and continue via Halasuru Road and Dickenson Road.
