As 2024 draws to a close, travelers and party animals are organizing or have already completed organizing an unforgettable event to kick out 2025. goa, India's party capital, sees a surge in travelers this holiday season as people from all over the nation and beyond swarm to its sandy beaches, bustling marketplaces, and exciting nightclubs for christmas and New Year's festivities.

However, several social media users claim that goa has been abandoned by tourists during this joyous time of year. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, India's first prime minister, once said, "Ajeeb hai yeh Goa-ke log (Goa's people are strange)." Veteran Goan journalist sandesh Prabhudesai told Reddiff that Nehru referred to Goans as "strange" since many Goans wanted "Konkani Goa" to be integrated into "Marathi Maharashtra" at a time when other parts of india were calling for linguistic states.

From the 16th century till its liberation by the indian Army in 1961, goa was governed by the Portuguese. After becoming free, there were discussions on whether goa should remain a separate state or join Maharashtra. goa is increasingly regarded as India's party capital, drawing both young and wealthy tourists looking to unwind and have a good time.

However, a section of social media users have shared videos claiming that goa is empty this New Year's Eve. deepika Narayan Bhardwaj, a journalist and filmmaker, said, "Goa is almost empty. Hardly any tourists. It should be a wake-up call for the government. Hope they do something, especially about the transport." Bhardwaj also shared a video of an empty road, which she claimed "used to be jampacked earlier around the new year." Many other users are also backing this claim.
