Rohit Sharma Decides to Sit Out Sydney Test:

In light of the current controversy surrounding the indian cricket squad in Australia, various media sources have reported that captain rohit sharma will be ‘taking a break’ for the final match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which begins on friday in Sydney. In his stead, star bowler jasprit bumrah will take charge, aiming to equalize the series and defend the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

The indian Express disclosed that Rohit has chosen to skip the fifth Test. He communicated his surprising choice to head coach gautam gambhir and chief selector Ajit Agarkar, who both concurred with his decision. Furthermore, the report mentioned that coach Gambhir had an extensive discussion with bumrah the day before the fifth Test while fielding practice was ongoing. During this time, Rohit did some batting in the nets, being the last player to arrive for practice. He also did not participate in the usual slip catching drills. Should Rohit indeed sit out, Shubman Gill is expected to rejoin the playing XI to bat at number 3, while KL rahul returns to the opening position alongside yashasvi Jasiwal. Additionally, Prasidh krishna may come in to replace the injured akash Deep, who was excluded from the series finale as of Thursday.

In response to this news, former indian cricketer and 1983 world cup champion madan Lal remarked that it is a wise choice by the team management to rest rohit sharma for the fifth Test. In an interview with CNN-News18, Lal expressed that it’s better to give a player a break when he is not performing well.

“It’s an excellent decision made by the management,” Lal stated. “I believe the captain was part of this choice as well. Sometimes, if you are not playing well, it’s better to take a rest,” Lal told News18.

Earlier on Thursday, Gambhir did not confirm Rohit's presence in the Playing XI for the Sydney Test. When directly asked about it, he refrained from providing any details.
