Unmarried couples may no longer be able to check in together at hotels in meerut that collaborate with the popular website oyo due to changes made to its check-in policy. According to the news outlet PTI, the new regulations will take effect this year.
 
Under the revised policy, oyo has granted its partner hotels the power to accept or reject a couple's reservations at their own discretion in accordance with local social sensitivities, the company said. social media was flooded with memes as soon as the news of the policy change went viral, with some people even labeling it a "bad idea."

Official statement from OYO

PTI quoted Pawas Sharma, Region Head, oyo North india saying, "OYO is committed to upholding safe and responsible hospitality practices. While we respect individual freedoms and personal liberty, we also recognise our responsibility to listen to and work with the law enforcement and civil society groups in the micro markets we operate in."

The statement also mentioned, "We will continue to review this policy and its impact periodically."

Additionally, going forward, married couples must have legitimate evidence of their relationship at the time of check-in for all reservations, even those made online.
