Nitesh Rane Remark: congress MP shashi tharoor has condemned Nitesh Rane's remarks on EVMs. He described it as contrary to the inclusive values maintained during India's freedom struggle.

Shashi Tharoor on Nitesh Rane: congress MP shashi tharoor on saturday (January 11, 2025) strongly condemned maharashtra minister Nitesh Rane's controversial remarks against Muslims. He described it as shocking and said that it was against the inclusive values established during India's freedom struggle. Shashi Tharoor said that targeting a particular community is not only wrong, but it undermines the democratic and inclusive values of India. He said that the progress of the country is possible only when every citizen gets equal rights.

Speaking to ANI, shashi tharoor said, "Such comments are shocking. We should understand the basic principles of India's freedom struggle. When a group of people made religion the basis of nationality, they went to Pakistan, but mahatma gandhi and our leaders made it clear that we were fighting for the freedom of all. We built a country where every person has been given equal rights." He also said that spreading hatred against any community, be it Muslim, Hindu, Christian, or from any other caste, is completely wrong.

The controversy started after Nitesh Rane's remarks during the Hindu Garjana Sabha in Sangli on friday (January 10). He had said, "EVM means, every vote against Mullah." CPI (M) leader Brinda Karat also criticized Rane's statement and called it a hate speech. He said, "This person is a threat to India. This is not the first time he has made a communal statement. The lack of action against him shows the double standards of the bjp and the RSS. The prime minister talks about the Constitution, but his ministers are breaking its basic principles. Rane should be immediately arrested and removed from office."
