While hearing the appeals filed for reduction of life sentence, high court Justice mustafa Zaman islam and Nasreen Akhtar converted the life sentence of ULFA I Chief Paresh Barua into 14 years. The decision was given to reduce the life sentence of other terrorists to 10 years.

A large quantity of weapons were found with the terrorists

In april 2004, a large quantity of weapons were recovered from the terrorists. Some influential people had tried to safely transport them to the ULFA hideouts in Northeast India. More than 27 thousand grenades, 150 rocket launchers, more than 11 lakh ammunition, 1100 sub machine guns and 11.41 million bullets were recovered from the terrorists.
