Unable to Attend maha Kumbh Mela? Here’s How to Participate in the Rituals from Home

The highly anticipated maha Kumbh mela has begun in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, marking the end of a 12-year wait. As one of the largest human gatherings, it attracts millions of pilgrims. For those unable to attend in person, there are ways to partake in the sacred rituals from the comfort of their own homes.

It is believed that taking a dip in the holy Sangam during the Kumbh mela washes away sins and brings blessings for life. Here’s how you can participate from home:

Bringing Sangam Water Home: If you can’t make it to the Kumbh mela, you can ask a friend, relative, or neighbor visiting the mela to bring back some Sangam water. Add a few drops of this holy water to your regular bath for similar spiritual benefits. This can be done on any auspicious day.

NGOs and services for Water Delivery: Various NGOs and organizations offer services to send the water and prasad directly to your home. You can register for this service to receive water from the Triveni Sangam.

Alternative: Use ganga Jal: If getting the maha Kumbh water isn’t possible, you can use ganga Jal for your holy bath during the Amrit Snans. Donating or performing charity after the bath will bring similar spiritual rewards.

Chanting the Sacred Mantra: During your bath, you can chant the following mantra to invoke blessings from the seven sacred rivers of India:
Gange cha Yamune chaiva, Godavari, Saraswati, Narmade, Sindhu, Kaveri, jalesmin sannithim kuru.
This mantra is believed to generate meditative vibrations, offering mental peace and spiritual upliftment.

Brahma Muhurat Bath: Another powerful practice is taking a bath during the Brahma Muhurat, which occurs about 1 hour and 36 minutes before sunrise. This time is considered the most auspicious for spiritual activities, rejuvenating both body and mind.

Stay Connected with the event Online: To stay connected with the maha Kumbh, you can follow updates from social media influencers appointed by the Kumbh administration, who are showcasing the event’s beauty. Additionally, vodafone Idea has partnered with Shemaroo to livestream key events such as the Shahi Snans on makar sankranti (January 14), Mauni Amavasya (January 29), and maha shivratri (February 26). This livestream will also feature cultural performances, devotional songs, and more, allowing you to experience the essence of the mela from home.
