After 16 years of marriage, Jessica Alba and her husband Cash Warren are divorcing. In an instagram post shared Thursday, Alba confirmed their separation writing, “I’ve been on a journey of self-realization and transformation for years as an individual and in partnership with Cash. I’m proud of how we’ve grown as a couple and in our marriage over the last 20 years and it’s now time for us to embark on a new chapter of growth and evolution as individuals.”

Alba stated that the two "are moving forward with love and kindness and respect for each other and will forever be family" despite their separation. She concluded her statement by saying, "Our children remain our highest priority and we request privacy at this time."

On the set of Fantastic Four, where Alba played Sue Storm, Alba and Warren first crossed paths in 2004. During the filming process, Warren assisted director Tim Story.

Their three children are aged seven, thirteen, and sixteen. They were married in 2008.

Just a year ago, Alba wrote, "I'm proud of us for making it this far," in honor of their wedding anniversary. You can never be fully prepared for what it means to commit to someone else and decide to become family by any set of standards or guidelines.

"We have consistently chosen one another and returned to one another through good times and bad. In her remark at the time, Alba said, "I love you, cheers to us."

Alba is not just an actress but also the creator of the Honest Company, a personal care and baby goods company founded in 2012. Alba resigned as the company's chief creative officer in april of last year. "While there would never have been an easy time to make this decision, I know we have a leadership team in place with [CEO] Carla Vernón at the helm to advance our founding vision and strengthen Honest's legacy as an industry change-maker," Alba wrote in a statement posted on instagram at the time.
