The once-in-144-year event is being attended by a large number of tech-savvy youths who are seamlessly fusing social media with spirituality. However, what is drawing so many young people to the Kumbh mela, a religious event thought to attract sadhus, the elderly, and those with a spiritual bent?
Similar to the diverse Sangam throng, Gen Z visitors have a wide range of motivations for going to the maha Kumbh.
Sanskriti Misra wants to bring back movies and stories for her grandparents because she grew up on Kumbh tales. Darab wants to understand the purpose of the whole spirituality debate for himself. Vibhu Mehta desires to become a part of the enormous human race and be submerged in the sea of believers.

Influencer Jyoti Pandey, 23, who has more than 18,000 instagram followers, returned from the Kumbh feeling refreshed. The event was emotionally and spiritually overpowering, she told india Today Digital.
"Prayagraj, a city rich with spiritual and cultural riches left me feeling overwhelmed," Pandey remarked.
Akshay, a 20-year-old student of hotel management, is visiting the maha Kumbh as part of an indian Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) program.
"It's stunning. Everyone is enthralled by dedication and faith. Akshay from Prayagraj stated, "I see that especially in the young people, who I think to make up at least half of the number of devotees attending the Kumbh Mela."
Twenty-three-year-old Sanskriti, a student at delhi University, wishes to "experience the serenity and faith at the maha Kumbh."
"My grandparents have told me tales about the Kumbh and snan. I'll record it on my phone as well and present it to them. They used to get up early and go for a snan," she said to india Today Digital.
Sanskriti will be sleeping at a guesthouse close to the mela ground during her three-day trip to Prayagraj with her parents.
Some young people, like 24-year-old Daraab, are traveling with a group of pals, while others are going to the maha Kumbh with family. Others, however, are traveling alone for the sole purpose of spending time with themselves and the experience.
