A massive fire suddenly broke out in the Sector 19 campsite area on sunday (January 19, 2025) evening at the maha Kumbh fair in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. It has also been reported that two to three gas cylinders exploded. During this, an atmosphere of chaos was seen everywhere and many videos have also surfaced, which are telling the scene. It can be seen in the video that the tent is on fire and smoke is rising along with the flames. Meanwhile, people were seen running here and there and a girl was shouting Papa-Papa. Some are running with blankets, some with bicycles. Due to the danger of fire spreading near the tents of Kalpvasis, people evacuated the place. Burnt cylinders have been found from the spot.
People seen removing stuff from tents
After the fire incident, people living in nearby tents are seen removing their stuff. Some are seen coming out with their bedding, some with gas stove and some with bicycles. people are also seen forbidding their children from going inside the tents.
Many tents burnt to ashes
News found at ground zero that many tents were burnt to ashes. An eyewitness said, "Whatever stuff was inside the tent was burnt to ashes. It cannot be said how suddenly the fire started. I was talking on the phone outside when suddenly the fire broke out."
As soon as the information of the incident was received, many fire engines already standing at the spot as part of security reached the spot and started rescue work. NDRF and fire brigade employees were seen rushing to the spot and taking water pipes to the spot to extinguish the fire. Prayagraj Zone ADG Bhanu bhaskar said, "Two-three cylinders exploded in Sector 19 of the maha Kumbh Mela, causing a massive fire in the camps. The fire has been brought under control. Everyone is safe and there are no casualties."
