Following President-elect Donald Trump's announcement that he will reinstate access to the China-based video-sharing app through an executive officer upon taking office on Monday, TikTok said on sunday that it has resumed operations in the United States. "TikTok is back in the US as a result of President Trump's efforts," the site informed users in a statement.

While the far more popular TikTok app started to relaunch for certain users with only a few basic features, TikTok also released an earlier statement after US customers reported being able to access the Chinese-owned service's website.

When he regains power, trump has stated that he will allow TikTok to operate again in the US, provided that American investors hold at least 50% of the company.

In reaction to Trump's remarks, TikTok stated that it would "work with President trump on a long-term solution that keeps TikTok in the US" and that it was now "restoring services" in the US.

"TikTok is working to restore service following our service suppliers. The video-sharing app said in a statement, "We appreciate President trump giving our service providers the clarity and assurance they need to know that they won't be penalized for giving TikTok to more than 170 million Americans and enabling more than 7 million small businesses to prosper."

Trump made his remarks only hours after google and apple took the Chinese app—which is presently owned by ByteDance—out of their online stores after the US supreme court upheld a federal statute requiring the company to sell its business to an authorized American buyer.

Trump stated that he would "extend the period before the law's prohibitions take effect so that we can make a deal to protect our national security" on his social media network Truth Social.

In a joint enterprise, I would prefer that the US own a 50% ownership stake. trump, who will take the oath of office as the 47th President of the united states today, said, "By doing this, we save TikTok, keep it in good hands, and allow it to stay up."

The President-elect also said that his executive order would specify there would be "no liability for any company that helped keep TikTok from going dark before his order".
