A distressing instance involving a Bangladeshi lady who reportedly took advantage of the state government's well-known financial aid program for women, the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana, has surfaced in Mumbai. According to reports, the woman, who lived in the Kamathipura neighborhood of mumbai, sought and was granted assistance under the program. This information was discovered while the mumbai police were conducting an operation.

Six people have been taken into custody by the police in the Kamathipura neighborhood of South mumbai, including a broker and five citizens of Bangladesh. The primary offender has been identified as a woman. An inquiry is in progress. Before the 2024 maharashtra Assembly elections, the Mahayuti administration introduced the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin plan, which offers Rs 1,500 to women between the ages of 25 and 65. However, the advantages of the plan were scrutinized and postponed after the elections.

Four hundred and fifty thousand women have applied for withdrawals after submitting applications that did not follow the rules of the program. There have also been reports of abuse and exploitation, including youngsters getting benefits under their sisters' names. Authorities are carrying out a nationwide re-investigation in response to these complaints to make sure that the Ladki Bahin standards are being met.

One of the most important requirements of the Ladki Bahin Yojana is that the recipient must live in Maharashtra. A recipient will lose her eligibility for the program if she gets married and moves out of state. Additionally, women who have relocated from other states are not eligible for this initiative; the woman's residence must be in Maharashtra.

On january 26, the seventh installment of the Ladki Bahin Yojana will start to be credited to beneficiary accounts. A budget plan to raise the Ladki Bahin payout to Rs 2,100 was earlier announced by maharashtra minister Vikhe Patil.

After approval, the money will start to be deposited into accounts in march 2025. Many people have applied for the Ladki Bahin Yojana despite their ineligibility. minister Aditi Tatkare and deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar have asked those who are not qualified to formally withdraw their applications.
