In tamil Nadu's madurai district, an indian Union Muslim League mp was accused of consuming non-vegetarian cuisine on a hilltop that is home to the well-known Thiruparankundram Murugan shrine. The state bjp president, K annamalai, was challenged to either prove the accusation or step down.

"Annamalai" made unfounded charges. He said that I had eaten biryani at the Thiruparankundram shrine. The mp from Ramanathapuram, Navas Kani, stated, "I never visited the hill or ate non-vegetarian food."

According to the IUML mp, he was being wrongfully accused. He told india Herald, "BJP leaders annamalai, L Murugan, and Vanathi Srinivasan are falsely accusing me of having non-vegetarian food in temple premises." He also asked if annamalai would step down if he couldn't provide evidence to support his claim.

He said, "I didn't go to the hill," when asked if anyone who went with him consumed non-vegetarian cuisine. No one accompanied me. No one who was with me ate anything that wasn't vegetarian.

But this was a significant departure from his statement to india Today the day before. He said that although he didn't consume non-vegetarian cuisine on Thursday, someone else did.

After the police prevented animals from being taken to the Thiruparankundram hill, which is also home to Sikandar badusha Dargah, aside from the Arulmigu Subramaniyaswamy temple, the issue over non-vegetarian cuisine arose.

A confrontation between the police and the populace resulted from the police stopping the carriage of animals to the hill for sacrifice. Kani clarified the problem, stating: "They have temporarily halted it. The district administration and the police are investigating if animal sacrifice was common in the past and, if so, whether they would permit it.

Kani, the chairman of the tamil Nadu Wakf Board, also discussed the Waqf board's involvement in a land dispute. "The Waqf board owns fifty percent of the land and the durgah, and it is published in the government gazette," he stated.

“In particular, Mr. Nawaz Gani, a Member of parliament .. . ate non-vegetarian food, in order to incite division between the two parties, which is not only a completely wrong act, but also an act that causes religious unrest,” annamalai wrote in the post.
