While seeking treatment for cervical spondylitis, a guy from Kaushambi, Uttar Pradesh, fell victim to religious conversion. After being brought to jalandhar, he was compelled to convert. virendra kumar Divakar, the victim, lives at Jafarpur Mahawa, Kaushami. Cervical spondylitis has been a chronic condition for him. Years of therapy failed to improve his condition.
 
The victim was taken to church on the pretext of treating his disease
According to sources, Divakar once met Shankarlal Chaurasia, who lived near the Manjhanpur police station. By promising to treat Divakar's condition, Chaurasia reportedly tricked him. Under the guise of transporting Divakar to a hospital, he transported him to jalandhar, punjab, in May 2024. Chaurasia instead led Divakar to a chapel in jalandhar on the Khambra Nakodar Road. Divakar was joined by his spouse as well. Divakar said that he was coerced into becoming a Christian after arriving at the church. He said that a number of other persons were involved in pressuring him to convert.
 
The victim was offered money to convert
Divakar claims that he was offered a monthly payment of one thousand rupees and a total of Rs five lakh upon his return home in exchange for the conversion. Divakar realized he had been duped into converting because, even after six months, he had not received any money. Divakar visited Chaurasia at his home on january 18 to confront him. However, Chaurasia ignored him and mistreated and physically assaulted him.
 
Police filed a case and arrested the accused
The police filed a case in response to the victim's allegation. The offender was taken into custody by the police close to Tannapur village. According to Inspector Sanjay Tiwari, about 76 leaflets and posters with offensive language and Christian religious texts were found on the accused. According to Additional SP Rajesh Singh, the case has been the subject of an ongoing inquiry.
