Residents of Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district have been living in terror and despair for more than a month after 17 members of three households passed away inexplicably on december 7. More individuals have been hospitalized in hospitals in the wake of the unexplained deaths, and more than 200 people who had contact with the impacted families have reportedly been placed under quarantine.
 
A central investigative panel was recently constituted by home minister amit shah to determine the cause of the problem. The cause of the victims' deaths was revealed by investigators. Recent findings by investigators and medical professionals indicate that cadmium toxicity was the cause of the sickness. In their earlier remarks, experts had stated that the likelihood of the cause being a virus or bacteria had been ruled out. They had not yet shown a reliable connection, but at first, they thought there may be residues of neurotoxins or pesticides in a nearby baoli.

Cadmium was found in the corpses of deceased people, according to tests done by the indian Institute of Toxicology Research in Lucknow. He clarified that no other virus, bacterium, or illness was discovered in the victims' samples, adding that it is still unknown how cadmium entered the body. Leading medical authorities have determined that brain involvement and nervous system impairment are the common factors among all of the people who died in Badhaal hamlet.

In order to preserve lives and stop the spread of this enigmatic disease, the head of the National Conference (NC) and Javaid Iqbal Choudhary, a local MLA, called for the declaration of a medical emergency on Thursday.
