Two ladies in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, left their homes and got married after becoming distraught with their violent and intoxicated husbands.

On thursday night, Kavita and Gunja, also known as Bablu, exchanged vows at the shiva temple in Deoria, which is well-known as Choti Kashi. They immediately became friends after connecting on Instagram. After six years of communication, they made the decision to tie the knot. Both ladies reported experiencing domestic abuse at the hands of their spouses.

Gunja dressed as the groom to the temple and applied vermillion (sindoor) to Kavita's forehead. In addition, the ladies fulfilled the seven vows (pheras) and exchanged garlands.

One lady said she was abused every day by her drunken spouse. After experiencing recurrent abuse, she made the decision to go back to her parents' house with her four children. The second lady said she left her spouse because he allegedly drank too much and wrongly accused her of cheating.

"Our husbands' drinking and violent behavior disturbed us. This encouraged us to pursue a peaceful, loving life. According to news agency PTI, Gunja stated, "As a couple, we have made the decision to live in Gorakhpur and work to support ourselves."

The women said that they would not allow anyone to split them up and that they were committed to being together. They intend to rent a residence even though they do not yet have a permanent residence.
