The white house announced monday that colombia has given up and agreed to take the deported immigrants on US military planes, following President Donald Trump's first foreign trade battle against the Latin American nation. On the other hand, colombia did not formally confirm the white house declaration.

Colombia has agreed to "unrestricted acceptance of all illegal aliens from colombia returned from the United States, including on US military aircraft, without limitation or delay," according to a white house statement.

"Today's events make clear to the world that America is respected again," it stated.

President trump is still dedicated to protecting American sovereignty, according to press Secretary Karoline Leavitt. The white house has made it clear that "he expects all other nations of the world to fully cooperate in accepting the deportation of their citizens illegally present in the United States."
The duties, which would have been applied to Colombian imports at a rate of 25% at first and increased to 50% in a week, will now be placed on hold and not applied, according to Leavitt. But she made it plain that increased customs checks on Colombian products and visa restrictions on Colombian officials would not be lifted.

When the South American nation declined to take in the deported immigrants, trump launched a barrage of taxes and sanctions on it on Sunday. Among these measures were 25% taxes on Colombian imports, increased customs inspections for Colombian goods, and limitations on visas for Colombian government personnel.

Additionally, trump claimed that Petro's refusal to accept the flights endangered US national security.

"These measures are just the beginning," he posted on Truth Social, his social media account. "We will not allow the Colombian government to violate its legal obligations with regard to the acceptance and return of the criminals they forced into the United States," he stated.
