On Monday, january 27, police in Bengaluru, Karnataka, said that Senapathy Kris Gopalakrishnan, a co-founder of Infosys, Balaram, a former director of the indian Institute of Science (IISc), and sixteen other people had been charged under the Prevention of SC/ST Atrocities Act.
 
Police told news agency PTI that the complaint was filed at the Sadashiva nagar police station by the 71st City Civil and Session Court's (CCH) orders.
 
The lawsuit was brought about by a guy who claimed he was wrongfully accused of being involved in a honey trap case and was later fired from his position at the indian Institute of Science (IISc), where Kris Gopalakrishnan is a member of the Board of Trustees.

Durgappa, the complainant, is a member of the Bovi tribe.
 
According to Durgappa, a professor at the IISc's Centre for Sustainable Technology, he was wrongfully accused of involvement in the honey trap case in 2014 and was subsequently fired.
 
According to the newspaper, Durgappa also claimed that he had received threats and caste-based harassment.
 
Govindan Rangarajan, sridhar Warrier, sandhya Vishwswaraih, hari KVS, Dasappa, Balaram P, Hemalata Mhishi, Chattopadyaya K, pradeep D Sawkar, and Manoharan are among the other defendants in this case.
 
Neither Kris Gopalakrishnan nor the IISc faculty responded right away.
 
One of the co-founders of Infosys, Kris Gopalakrishnan, was the company's managing director and CEO from 2007 to 2011 and vice chairman from 2011 to 2014.
 
According to his LinkedIn page, Kris Gopalakrishnan was one of the co-chairs of the World Economic Forum in Davos in january 2014 and was chosen president of the Confederation of indian Industrial (CII), India's leading Industrial Chamber, for the 2013–14 term.
 
The Padma Bhushan, India's third-highest civilian award, was given to Gopalakrishnan by the indian government in january 2011.

Kris Gopalakrishnan graduated from the indian Institute of Technology, Madras, with master's degrees in computer science and physics. According to his LinkedIn page, Kris is an Honorary Fellow of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE) of india and a Fellow of the indian National Academy of Engineers (INAE).
