Gautham Vasudev Menon's first feature in the malayalam cinema business, Dominic and the Ladies' Purse, was finished in an exceptionally short amount of time—something he had never done with any of his prior productions. Many individuals who saw the film stated that the criminal investigation sequences were done well and that gautham Vasudev Menon, although being a tamil filmmaker, did not sacrifice the malayalam film's flavor.

Additionally, even though the movie included a superstar like mammootty, GVM avoided making needless mass scenes for the actor and instead produced an engrossing investigative thriller. Although it received mostly excellent reviews, some social media users expressed that, in spite of the compelling plot, the script had a few small problems and seemed a little slow in the second part of the movie.

Despite a few little problems, the film has received positive reviews from everyone who has watched it thus far. Though it's not as fantastic as his greatest work, GVM did a decent job with mammootty in his debut malayalam film. As usual, mammootty was fantastic, although there were moments when gautham Vasudev Menon's film lacked enthusiasm. All things considered, it's a respectable thriller with a fascinating conclusion. You don't really see GVM's distinct flair in it; instead, it feels like a standard malayalam crime film.
