The chennai high court has dismissed Netflix's petition seeking quashing of Dhanush's case regarding the Nayanthara documentary. Mumbai-based Netflix released videos of the wedding of actress Nayanthara and director Vignesh Shivan and related videos. These included scenes from the shooting of 'Naanum Rowdy Than', produced by actor Dhanush's company 'Wunderbar Films'. Following this, actor dhanush sent a notice to Nayanthara, seeking compensation of Rs 10 crore. In response to this, Nayanthara had severely criticized Dhanush. A petition was filed in the high court on behalf of dhanush against actress Nayanthara, Vignesh Shivan, and Mumbai-based Netflix. The petition stated, 'Nayanthara's acting and voice in the film belong to our company. Now, Netflix has released Nayanthara's wedding video along with video footage belonging to our company. Due to this, we have suffered a loss. Therefore, we should pay Rs 10 crore as compensation.'
Netflix filed a petition in the chennai high court seeking to quash the case filed by Dhanush. The chennai high court dismissed this petition today (Jan. 28). The high court refused to accept the petition filed by Netflix seeking to dismiss the case as it cannot be pursued in the chennai High Court. The high court judge ordered that the copyright case filed by Wonderbar be listed on february 5.
