On Monday, US President donald trump declared that prime minister Narendra Modi "will do what's right" in terms of repatriating illegally-acquired indian immigrants. trump made his comments during a phone conversation in which he covered a wide range of topics with the prime minister.

Trump has promised to implement the most extensive deportation operation in US history in order to combat illegal immigration. According to a Bloomberg news story last week, the US and india have identified about 18,000 indians who are unlawfully in the US.

During their meeting last week, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio emphasized his willingness to "address concerns related to irregular migration" with External Affairs minister S Jaishankar.

India has always been amenable to the lawful repatriation of illegal indians to the United States, jaishankar added. However, he stated that the number of US citizens who can be deported to india has not yet been established and that New delhi is currently in the process of confirming this information.

Since we do believe in a global workplace, it is clear that as a government, we strongly encourage legal mobility. We want indian abilities and talent to have as many opportunities as possible on a global scale. However, we also strongly condemn illegal migration and movement," jaishankar said to a gathering of indian media in Washington, DC.

"Because you are aware that when an unlawful activity occurs, it is often accompanied by several additional criminal acts, which is undesirable. Its reputation is undoubtedly poor. Therefore, we have always maintained that if any of our nationals are present unlawfully and we are certain that they are our citizens, we have always been open to their lawful return to india," he continued. "The US is not an exception to this rule.

"I don't think the partnership is properly served if the waiting period for a visa exceeds 400 days or more. Rubio added, "He (Rubio) also noted that point."

India is renowned for its enormous pool of IT specialists, many of whom work worldwide, and trump has stated that he is open to the legal transfer of qualified people. They make up the majority of the US's H-1B visas for skilled workers.
