Tamil Nadu NIA Raids: The raids targeting over 15 locations are being held mainly in mayiladuthurai and chennai districts.
Tamil Nadu NIA Raids: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has started to raid at least 15 locations in tamil Nadu reportedly in connection with the isis radicalization case. The raids are being held in mayiladuthurai and chennai districts.
On Tuesday, the raids targeting over 15 locations reportedly started at 3.30 AM.
The NIA is actively investigating cases of radicalization and recruitment linked to isis across multiple states in India.
Last year, NIA filed a chargesheet against the accused in the isis radicalization and recruitment case. The investigation was carried out in the wake of a bomb blast in a car near a temple in coimbatore in 2022.
A new case, registered last year, focuses on isis supporters whose involvement was uncovered during an investigation.
On october 21, 2022, the NIA arrested three suspects in connection with the coimbatore car bomb blast case, which was inspired by ISIS. Investigations revealed that the accused had collaborated to fund the terror act. A related case of radicalization led to the arrest and charge sheeting of four additional suspects by the NIA.
Meanwhile, a few days ago, the NIA arrested two suspects in connection with the murder of Pattali Makkal Katchi leader V Ramalingam. The murder reportedly took place in 2019. The arrested members are linked to the banned Popular Front of india (PFI).
