Mahakumbh stampede: Eyewitness says, 'Somehow stood up, saved my parents…'
Vivek Mishra, a Prayagraj-based eyewitness and social media content maker, remembered the horrifying moments amid the mayhem.

He stated: "A lot of devotees arrived at the Sangam banks at approximately 2:30 in the morning, which is when the event occurred. The crowd's lack of knowledge of where to go after taking a bath was the primary cause of the issue. On their heads, these folks were toting bulky bags. There were several iron dustbins that pilgrims were unable to see. Some lost their footing and fell. There was evidence of their bags everywhere.

"I also fell because my feet got stuck in one of the dustbins," he said. I misplaced my sneakers. They left me barefoot. I was injured while walking. My parents and another woman were lying on the ground when I managed to get up and save them. At that point, young people in the throng began shoving one another. This circumstance was the cause of the rush. What I witnessed at ground zero is beyond words.
