Guantanamo Bay is the same military prison where after the horrific 9/11 attack in America, other dreaded terrorists and suspects including al qaeda captured from afghanistan and pakistan were held hostage.
President trump said that he will order the federal authorities to build a center to keep illegal foreign immigrants in the prison located on the eastern end of Cuba. He said, "We have 30,000 beds in Guantanamo, where the worst foreign criminals who threaten the people of America can be kept." He further said, "Some of them are so bad that we do not even trust those countries that they will catch them themselves and we do not want them to come back."
It is very difficult to get out of Guantanamo
According to the Associated press (AP) report, the white house announced that US President donald trump has signed the Guantanamo memorandum. President trump said, "This move will double the number of detainees in US custody and it is very difficult to get out of Guantanamo."
Migrant rights groups have expressed disappointment over this move. Stacy Suh, program director of the Detention watch Network, said in a statement, "The abusive history of Guantanamo Bay Jail speaks for itself and it will definitely endanger the physical and mental health of people."
