According to reports, the traditional Captains' Day celebration for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy has been scrapped by the pakistan cricket Board (PCB). This indicates that, despite india playing their matches in the United Arab Emirates because of security concerns, indian captain rohit sharma would not need to go to pakistan, ending months of doubt.
 
The international organization has made care to set out a day for the captains' joint press conference and picture session at many of the previous ICC events. 'Unavailability of teams owing to tight traveling schedules' is the PCB's explanation for this time's cancellation.

"The problem is that prior to the event, every squad has a very strict timetable. australia is playing a Test and ODI series in Sri Lanka, while england and india are playing a white-ball series," according to a source quoted by news agency PTI.
 
"We have also decided in conjunction with the ICC that there will be no official collective press conference of all captains as not all will be available before the tournament nor any official photo shoot at one place," said a source.
 
According to the source, the board will host an inaugural event for the tournament on february 16 at the Huzoor Bagh in Lahore in lieu of a formal opening ceremony.
 
"We will have the inauguration ceremony on february 16th," the person continued.
 
The competition will take place from february 19 until march 9. Three locations in pakistan and one in dubai will host the event. After the ICC, PCB, and Board of Control for cricket in india (BCCI) agreed on a hybrid model for the tournament, india will play all of their matches at the latter.
 
The final, assuming india advances, will also take place in Dubai.
 
Meanwhile, the article states that on february 7, the PCB will formally inaugurate the recently refurbished Gaddafi Stadium. As the event's main guest, prime minister Shahbaz Sharif has been invited.
 
The National Stadium in Karachi, which has also undergone recent renovations, will also be inaugurated by the PCB four days later on february 11. The major guest for such a function has been invited to be President Asif ali Zardari.
