Prime minister Narendra Modi made fun of the opposition on friday by claiming that, for the first time in a decade, no "foreign forces" tried to start a fire before each session of Parliament.

"As you have already seen, this is the first parliament session since 2014 that has likely seen no 'videshi chingari' (foreign interference) in our affairs, meaning that no external forces attempted to start a fire. This was something I had seen before to each budget meeting. In his usual speech before the Budget session started today, PM Modi stated, "And many in our country leave no stone unturned to fan these sparks."

The prime minister emphasized that "innovation, inclusion, and investment" were the government's top goals and stated that the Union Budget will set the path for a "Viksit Bharat," or a developed india, by 2047.

He said that the budget will place a strong emphasis on women and youth. "This is my third term's first full budget. "I am confident that india will achieve its goal of 'Viksit Bharat' in 2047, when it celebrates its 100th anniversary of independence," he remarked.

"The main focus will be on women's empowerment and Nari shakti in particular. "Our second area of focus will be to reform, perform, and transform," PM Modi continued.

PM Modi invoked Goddess lakshmi and said he would pray for the nation's poor and middle class to continue to be blessed by the goddess of wealth.

"I want Maa lakshmi to keep blessing our nation's middle class and impoverished. The fact that india has been a democratic country for 75 years is a source of immense pride. india has made a strong name for itself internationally," he said, adding that the budget will infuse the country with new vitality and optimism.

The Economic survey will be tabled today by Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman, who will also introduce the Union Budget in parliament on Saturday. She will give the budget speech for the ninth time in a row.

There will be two sections to the budget session. While the second section will start on march 10 and run through april 4, the first part will run from january 31 to february 13.
