Virat Kohli's Ranji Trophy homecoming for delhi didn't go as planned since the indian batsman didn't leave an impression in the opening innings. Early in the innings, Railways bowler Himanshu Sangwan sent his stump cartwheeling, dismissing the 36-year-old batsman for only 6 from 15 deliveries.

Before being dismissed, kohli had smashed a stunning straight drive for a boundary in the delivery, and he tried the same shot again. The supporters, who had gathered in large numbers to see the batter play, were devastated when Sangwan drew his length and succeeded in tricking the indian batting great.

On the first day of Delhi's Ranji Trophy match, fans flocked to the arun jaitley Stadium in record numbers, attracted by Virat Kohli's charisma. The indian celebrity kept the crowd's enthusiasm high throughout the day by interacting with them in his signature manner.

Fans had started lining up outside the stadium as early as 3 AM on Day 1 in anticipation of seeing their cricketing idol since the craze had gotten that bad.

The attention is now on Kohli's next turn at the crease after he failed to leave an impression in their opening innings. When the star hitter bats again in the second innings, the fervent fans who crammed the bleachers will be looking for a game-changing blow.

Kohli's Poor Form
After a turbulent period with the bat, kohli joined Delhi's Ranji team. In ten Test matches the previous season, the batter only managed one century and did not record a half-century. He scored his only century in the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Perth, but he was unable to sustain the momentum and finished the next four games of the series with a total of fewer than 100 runs.

The bcci ordered the overseas players to participate in the Ranji because of the subpar performance by kohli and the whole indian batting order.

Earlier this week, kohli spent tuesday and wednesday training with Delhi's Ranji squad. On Day 1, he also played for the delhi Ranji team, captained by Ayush Badoni.
