Reiterating his warning of 100% tariffs, which he had stated immediately after winning the november presidential election, US President donald trump warned BRICS countries on thursday not to replace the US dollar as the reserve currency.
In a statement that was almost exactly the same as one he posted on november 30, trump stated on Truth Social, "We are going to require a commitment from these seemingly hostile Countries that they will neither create a new BRICS currency, nor back any other currency to replace the mighty U.S. Dollar, nor, they will face 100% Tariffs." At the time, russia said that any U.S. attempt to compel countries to use the dollar would backfire.
