Born in chennai on May 20, 1991, Vangmayi parakala comes from a family with a long history in academics and politics. Nirmala Sitharaman, her mother, is a prominent politician who is the Finance minister of india at the moment. parakala prabhakar, her father, is a well-known political economist and social analyst who has held important roles, such as cabinet-level Communications Advisor to the andhra pradesh government. Regarding her private life, in june 2023, parakala wed Pratik Doshi at a small wedding in Bengaluru. Since 2014, Pratik Doshi has collaborated with prime minister Narendra Modi and is a close ally of the latter. Following Adamaru Mutt's Vedic traditions and Brahmin customs, their wedding was a low-key ceremony. Despite her well-known family history, Vangmayi preferred solitude, as seen by the low-key wedding attended by just close family members and a few acquaintances.

Vangmayi's spouse, Pratik Doshi, works at the Prime Minister's office (PMO) as an Officer on Special Duty (OSD). Doshi is a Gujarati native who has known prime minister Narendra Modi while Modi was Gujarat's chief minister. Doshi moved to the PMO after Modi was promoted to prime minister in 2014, and he has since established himself as a vital member of the group, helping with strategic projects and research.
