The Bharat Ratna is the first name that comes to mind when awards are discussed in India. Given for outstanding and meritorious service in a variety of professions, it is the highest civilian honor in the nation. Five Bharat Ratna awards were announced last year. Karpoori Thakur, Lal krishna Advani, Chaudhary Charan Singh, P.V. narasimha Rao, and M.S. swaminathan were presented with this honor.

In addition to the recognition bestowed by the nation's president, the government also offers the honored person several benefits. In addition to being invited to special government events, they are given precedence in order. Do you know what was presented during the Bharat Ratna event, what kind of metal was used to make the medal, and who made this unique award for the indian government? Let's investigate...

No gold or silver in Bharat Ratna
You are erroneous if you believe that the coveted Bharat Ratna is made of gold or silver. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting's website states that the recipient of the Bharat Ratna receives a medal and a certificate signed by the president.

Made of solid copper, this medal has the appearance of a peepal leaf. It measures 5.8 cm in length, 4.7 cm in breadth, and 3.1 cm in thickness. On this leaf is a silver sun that is gleaming. Platinum also makes up the peepal leaf's margin. 'Bharat Ratna' is inscribed in hindi at the bottom of the second section of the Bharat Ratna. 'Satyamev Jayate' is written beneath the Ashoka pillar on the reverse.

This is where the Bharat Ratna is made
There is just one location in the nation where the Bharat Ratna is created. The kolkata Mint has been tasked by the indian government with creating it. Here, skilled artisans have worked diligently to produce this medal. The Bharat Ratna has been produced by the kolkata Mint since its founding in 1757. This mint also prepares other prizes including the Param Vir Chakra, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri.
