What is the UDAN Scheme? Announcements made in Budget..!?

Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Union Budget for the financial year 2025-26 on february 1. This is her eighth consecutive budget. 120 new cities will be included in the scheme: The Finance minister announced during the Budget speech that the central government has planned to connect 120 cities through the UDAN scheme. This work will be carried out in the next 10 years. 120 new airports will be built in the country in the next ten years. This will benefit passengers traveling by air. About 4 crore more people will join the air travel.
What is the UDAN scheme?: The UDAN scheme was launched on october 21, 2016. It is a regional connectivity scheme. The scheme was launched with the aim of connecting the unserved areas with air connectivity through the UDAN scheme. The central government says that the UDAN scheme is related to the vision of prime minister Modi. prime minister Modi had said that he wants to see the common citizens of the country also boarding flights.

Revised scheme to be launched: After the launch of the UDAN scheme, it was a great success. After that, a revised scheme related to it will be launched. After this scheme, small airports and helipads will be built in the northeastern and hilly areas of the country. So that more people can take advantage of air travel. Since the launch of the UDAN scheme in 2016, the number of new aircraft has also increased. These may increase further after the expansion of the scheme. The demand for ATR 42, Boeing 737, Airbus 320/321, Embraer 145, Embraer 175 etc. has increased.
