On february 6th, Magizh Thirumeni's much awaited film Vidaamuyarchi, starring ajith kumar, will get its international premiere. This is the most anticipated tamil film since Suriya's Kanguva and the first high-profile kollywood release in 2025. The crew hyped Kanguva as a pan-Indian extravaganza and even predicted that it would be the first tamil film to earn ₹1000 crore, positioning it as a game-changer for Kollywood.

But after its release, the movie became a huge troll fest, falling short of predictions and earning only ₹200 crore at the end. In addition to disappointing viewers, this poor showing severely damaged Kollywood's aspirations to become a pan-Indian film. The next big release, Vidaamuyarchi, is now the center of attention. Despite not being promoted as a pan-Indian picture, its popularity in tamil Nadu may help to rebuild trust in high-profile tamil productions.

In contrast to Kanguva, which had ambitious plans for the entire country, Vidaamuyarchi is anticipated to do well in its own country and, should it become a box office success, might restore support for Kollywood's major projects. Given the high expectations for Vidaamuyarchi, the key issue is still whether ajith kumar can produce a strong song and make up for Kanguva's letdown. The response will be made public on february 6.
