Pakistan is going to take out six canals from the Indus River. This decision has sparked anger among the people of Sindh province. The Shahbaz government has proposed amendments to the indus river System Authority (ISRA) Act, due to which people are angry.
According to the news of The Dawn, Sindhi people are strongly opposing this plan of the pakistan government. They took out a march against it on sunday (February 2, 2025). This march was taken out under the leadership of Awami Tehreek (AT) party President Advocate Vasand Thadi and Vice President Hural Nisa Palijo. He alleged that this is a deliberate conspiracy to deprive Sindh province of its water resources.
Pakistan Peoples party (PPP) is in power in Sindh and Murad ali Shah is the cm here. Awami Tehreek said that PPP President Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is misleading the public. He said that this project of the government, corporate farming and other initiatives have endangered the existence of Sindh. Vasand Thadhi warned that this canal being built on the indus river is more dangerous than the Kalabagh dam.
Vasand Thadhi said that corporate farming will create problems like food shortage, displacement of farmers, unemployment, hunger and poverty. He said that such policies will snatch the rights of the common citizen from their lands and the control will go to foreign powers. He also said that Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) has been created to sell the resources of Pakistan. He said that the pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz coalition government is auctioning the country's assets for its benefit.
Vasand Thadhi also criticized the amendments in the Prevention of Electric Crimes Act (Peca) and said that these changes have been made with the intention of suppressing freedom of speech and attacking democratic rights. He said that the government is making every effort to keep the people under control. Vasand Thadhi has urged the government to withdraw corporate farming and canal projects.
