A US official informed news agency Reuters on monday that a US military jet had taken off carrying illegal migrants to India. He stated that although the C-17 plane took off with migrants on board, they wouldn't get there for at least a day. By sending more troops to the US-Mexico border, using military planes to deport migrants, and setting up military sites to hold them, the trump administration has enlisted the support of the US military to further its immigration agenda.

Illegal migrants have been transported by deportation planes to Guatemala, Peru, and Honduras. According to the article, india is the furthest the aircraft will go since the trump administration returned.

This will be the first deportation to india since US President donald trump returned to the White House. During their respective meetings with prime minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs minister S jaishankar, trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio expressed worries about illegal indian immigration to the United States.

In addition, President trump stated that he spoke with prime minister Modi on immigration and that india will return "illegal immigrants" in "the right way."

According to the White House, the two leaders had a "productive call" and talked about ways to "expand and deepen" collaboration between the two nations.

Rubio brought up the subject of "irregular immigration" with jaishankar, as defined by the State Department. india "firmly opposed" illegal immigration to the united states, according to the country's external affairs ministry.

"It is combined with a lot of other unlawful acts. It is not appealing, and it has a bad reputation. jaishankar had stated, "We have been open to their lawful return to india if there are any of our citizens who are not here legally and we are certain they are our citizens."

Between october 2023 and september 2024, the united states deported over 1,100 illegal immigrants from india, according to an HT report.

In November, Department of Homeland Security (DHS) assistant secretary for border and immigration strategy Royce Murray stated that deportations of illegal indian immigrants from the united states reported a "steady increase" in recent years.

The Ministry of External Affairs described the deportations as the result of "regular consular dialogue and arrangement" with the United States. Additionally, MEA spokeswoman Randhir jaiswal stated that the organization still holds "regular consular dialogue" and makes the required "arrangements" for immigration and people movement between the two nations.
