When Iqbal, a Zari Zardosi craftsman, started coming to her hamlet to work, the woman told the police that she got to know him. Iqbal, a skilled needleworker and designer, often visited local residences, including the woman's. They eventually traded contact information and started talking on the phone often.

The lady said Iqbal started making improper approaches as the chats went on. He reportedly coerced her into having sex with him at his house one day. She said that Iqbal intimidated her by claiming to have recordings of their chats, despite her first attempt to warn him that she would tell her husband about the event. According to reports, he threatened to ruin her house by disclosing these tapes if she notified anybody.

She stated in a police statement, "I had to put up with this since I have little children. He repeatedly used blackmail to get him to become physical. I had had enough of this. Iqbal went to leave his wife off at her parents' house on Wednesday. While he was returning, I chatted with him and expressed my want to meet.

On february 1, his wife Shahnaz filed a murder complaint against their neighbor, accusing them of the crime, according to Additional Superintendent of police (Northern) mukesh Chandra Mishra. She disclosed that Iqbal had allegedly raped her several times and had been using taped phone calls to blackmail her. She planned his murder because she could no longer stand the pestering.

"Iqbal allegedly gave her two sedative pills, telling her to mix them in her husband's tea at 8 p.m., which made him unconscious," he added. When she arrived at Iqbal's place at around 11:40 p.m., he began to engage her in physical contact. She took advantage of the circumstance, putting her hands around his neck and killing him by strangulation. After dragging his body to the stairs, she departed and went back to her house.

"The 35-year-old suspect was taken into custody on february 2, 2025, and has been charged with murder," stated mukesh Chandra Mishra, Additional Superintendent of police (Northern). The police have stated that they would investigate every facet of the case, including the physical evidence related to Iqbal's murder and the woman's allegations of extortion.

The grave repercussions of emotional abuse and blackmail in interpersonal relationships are brought to light by this unfortunate example. Many people's behavior and mental health might suffer greatly when they feel helpless or imprisoned in such circumstances.
