According to news agency ANI, the maharashtra government on monday issued a government Resolution (GR) requiring the use of Marathi in all state government and semi-government agencies. Employees are required under the instruction to speak Marathi to all guests, except those who are from outside of india or from states where Marathi is not the primary language.

The decision applies to maharashtra government companies, government offices, semi-government organizations, and other relevant entities. It shall be deemed an act of official indiscipline if this direction is broken. Employees who violate the regulation may be the subject of official complaints from citizens to the head of the relevant office or department.

According to the decision, the complaint may take the matter up with the maharashtra Legislature's Marathi language Committee for additional action if they are unhappy with the response received. The goal of the action is to improve accessibility for Marathi-speaking residents in government offices and to strengthen the use of Marathi in official communications.

To support the efforts made to preserve, conserve, promote, disseminate, and develop the language, the Marathi language Policy, which was passed last year, suggested using Marathi in all public matters. The GR further declared that, in addition to Roman alphabets, Marathi Devanagari alphabets were to be used on PC (personal computer) keyboards in every office.
