The e-detention system on Vehicle Insurance..!?

The e-detention system is used to collect toll charges on national highways. When your vehicle reaches the toll gate, the FASTag is scanned and charges are collected. Till now, the e-detention system was used only for collecting toll charges. However, now the government is thinking of using the e-detention system to collect more things as well. With this system, which is being implemented experimentally in odisha, uninsured vehicles on national highways will be identified and fined. If the violation is committed two or three times, the owner of the vehicle concerned will be sent to jail. The center has made a sensational decision to prevent road accidents. Especially since the number of uninsured vehicles is increasing. Since there are problems in financially supporting the victims if such vehicles get into an accident, a special focus has been made to overcome this problem.
The e-detention system was introduced with the decision to prevent uninsured vehicles from actually entering the highway. Initially, this technology was made available at all toll gates in Odisha. Through this system, uninsured vehicles are immediately identified if they cross the toll gate. The government has decided to impose a fine of Rs. 2,000 on vehicles identified in this way. If they enter the road without insurance for the second time, a fine of Rs. 4,000 and 3 months in prison will be imposed. Rules have been made to implement both at a time. Under Section 146 of the Road Accidents Prevention Act of 1988, vehicles plying on public roads must be insured. The Centre, in collaboration with the odisha government, has decided to impose a fine on those who do not comply with this rule.

With this rule coming into effect from february 1, uninsured vehicles are afraid to cross the toll gate. The government hopes to expand this automatic e-detention system across the country soon. Union minister Nitin Gadkari hopes to identify the problems arising from the e-detention being implemented in odisha and introduce it effectively. In fact, the e-detention system was not introduced for the first time in Odisha. Before this, it was used to identify vehicles without pollution certificates in Bihar. When this technology was used through 32 toll gates in that state, 5,000 vehicles were identified and fines were collected in just two days. The bihar state government says that pollution checks are being carried out systematically in that state as motorists who do not get a pollution certificate, which costs Rs 10,000, have to pay a fine of Rs 10,000. Initially implemented on a pilot basis through 32 toll gates, the system was later expanded to major cities like Patna, Muzaffarpur, and Bhagalpur. The Centre is moving towards expanding the automatic e-detention system currently being implemented in bihar and odisha to the entire country soon. At the same time, it is looking to remove toll gates on national highways and collect toll charges through geo-tagging. Transport minister Gadkari hopes that this proposal to collect toll charges based on the distance traveled on the national highway will be implemented soon. Despite his efforts to ensure the safety of national highways, minister Gadkari, who is concerned about the increase in road accidents, has suggested that every motorist should get insurance to protect accident victims.
