What did the Ministry of External Affairs say about Sheikh Hasina
Responding to the question, the Ministry of External Affairs said that bangladesh has demanded the extradition of former prime minister Sheikh Hasina and has told what crime she committed there before coming to india on 5 August 2024 in which case her extradition is being sought. The Ministry of External Affairs has also informed that no reply has been given by the government of india on this extradition demand made by bangladesh so far.
It is worth noting that since the coup in bangladesh, former Bangladeshi prime minister Sheikh Hasina has taken refuge in India. Former prime minister of bangladesh Sheikh Hasina has been present in india since august 2024 and amidst all this, the current government of bangladesh has demanded her extradition, but the way the indian government has responded indicates that till now Sheikh Hasina is present in india and the indian government has not taken any decision regarding her extradition. Since Sheikh Hasina left bangladesh, the interim government there has also registered several cases against her.
