Tirupati ghee issue... 4 people arrested..!?

The cbi Special Investigation Team has arrested four people in connection with complaints that ghee used in tirupati laddus was adulterated. These are the first arrests in this case. The issue of ghee mixed with animal fat being used in the laddus of tirupati temple, one of the most visited temples in india, not only caused a huge stir among the people across the country but also sparked a major political controversy in the state of Andhra Pradesh. Among those arrested in connection with this issue is R. Rajasekharan, Managing director of A.R. Dairy Company from Dindigul. Along with him, Vipin Jain and Pomil Jain of Pol baba Dairy Company from uttarakhand have also been arrested. apoorva Sowda of nellore Vaishnavi Dairy is also among those arrested.
The cbi officials have been questioning these four people for three days and then arrested them. Later, they were produced in the tirupati court and remanded in judicial custody. The cbi investigation has revealed that there were irregularities at various levels in the ghee used in the preparation of laddus. In september last year, former andhra pradesh Chief minister Chandrababu Naidu alleged that adulterated ghee was used in tirupati laddus when the ysr congress Party was in power. The telugu desam party (TDP) later released a laboratory report and tried to prove these allegations. However, the ysr congress Party denied these allegations as politically motivated. Meanwhile, it also made various allegations against the andhra pradesh government. Notably, the tirupati tirumala Devasthanams (TTD) not only filed a complaint with the tirupati East police station regarding these allegations but also blacklisted the tamil Nadu-based AR Dairy Company. The state government had initiated its own investigation into the matter, which reached the supreme Court. In october last year, the supreme court ordered the formation of a cbi Special Investigation Team (SIT) to conduct a detailed investigation into these allegations.

As per the supreme court order, the cbi SIT comprises the Additional director of cbi, Hyderabad, the Superintendent of Police, Visakhapatnam, the IG, Guntur, the DIG, Visakhapatnam Range, and an officer of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of india (FSSAI).
