US President donald trump dubbed Elon Musk "terrific" amid rumors of a rift in their friendship, saying the tech tycoon provided him with "great help" when he was nominated to lead the Department of government Efficiency (DOGE) to reduce government expenditure.

"Elon Musk has been outstanding in helping me. He's not making any progress. I'm actually curious how he finds the time to do it. When asked if he trusted his adviser, trump responded, "He's so into it," in a pre-Super Bowl interview with Brett Baier of Fox news that was made public on Sunday.

Trump has given Musk, who the white house claims is a special government employee, the responsibility of leading DOGE to reduce the size of the governmental workforce in the United States. Musk's advisers have attempted to gain access to private data stored in computer systems at several government organizations as part of that effort.

Trump stated in the interview that he would order Musk to "possibly in the next 24 hours" uncover "billions of dollars of fraud and abuse" at the Pentagon and the Department of Education.

"I'll advise him to go check the Department of education as soon as possible, perhaps within a day. He will discover the same thing. After that, I'll join the military. Let's examine the armed forces. He declared, "We are going to uncover fraud and abuse worth billions, hundreds of billions of dollars."
