Congress: congress leader said - the 'India' block was formed only for 2024 elections, a different strategy for state elections
Congress: Congress MP Manickam Tagore said that the india block was formed only for the 2024 general elections, while different strategies will be adopted for the state assembly elections. He accused arvind kejriwal of breaking the alliance in Delhi. He said that congress is not responsible for this. On the criticism of the bjp benefiting from the discord between the aam aadmi party (AAP) and the congress in delhi, congress MP Manickam Tagore said that the opposition india alliance was formed only for the 2024 general elections. He said that different alliance strategies would be adopted in different states in the assembly elections.
On the allegation that congress created problems for the aam aadmi party in delhi, Tagore said that critics are asking the wrong questions and they should ask questions to those who broke the alliance in Delhi. He was referring to aam aadmi party convenor Arvind Kejriwal. He said, one thing is very clear that the 'India' block was formed for the 2024 general elections. Different strategies have been made in different states. congress and AAP had an alliance in delhi, but not in Punjab. We had an alliance in Gujarat. We got support from them in Goa.
Talking to reporters outside Parliament, Tagore also said that there was a strategy of different state-level alliances for different states in the assembly elections. arvind kejriwal had announced on december 1 that he would contest alone. We hope that our alliance partners will understand that they are asking the question to the wrong person, they should ask that question to the person who broke the alliance.
Tagore also clarified that the india block was formed specifically for the 2024 general elections and its purpose was to bring PM narendra modi and anti-BJP forces on one platform. This has already been done. Now coordination is taking place in Parliament. The congress MP said that different strategies will be adopted in the state elections. He said the assembly elections will be fought under state-specific alliances. In Parliament, we are coordinating and our leader of the opposition (Rahul Gandhi) had talked about the india Block approach, which was not just the Congress's approach.
He also said that in Parliament, the Samajwadi party, Trinamool congress, aam aadmi party, and others are all united against prime minister narendra modi and home minister amit Shah. In the delhi assembly elections, the aam aadmi party won 62 seats in 2020, while in 2015 this figure reached 67. However, in the 2025 assembly elections, the party seats came down to only 22 and the bjp won a big victory with 48 seats. Congress failed to win any seat in the delhi assembly elections for the third time.
