Discussions about the future chief minister are rife inside the bharatiya janata party following its resounding victory in the delhi assembly election.

The party may choose a female candidate this time, choosing from among its recently elected MLAs. According to unverified rumors, there is also a chance that a deputy chief minister from a socially representative background may be appointed, guaranteeing a varied leadership group.

There should be a good representation of Dalit leaders and women in the next government.

With 48 of 70 seats won, the bjp has finally returned to power in delhi after a 26-year wait, reducing the Aam Aadmi party, led by Arvind Kejriwal, to only 22 seats. According to a senior bjp source, the party is carefully assessing its alternatives and may choose a woman, a Sikh leader, or a candidate with Purvanchal ancestry, depending on what will be most effective politically. Previous elections in Odisha, Rajasthan, and madhya pradesh indicate that the party leadership holds its cards close to the vest before making a major declaration.

Probable women faces:

Rekha Gupta, the mla for Shalimar Bagh, is seen as the front-runner. She won her seat with a landslide victory of 29,595 votes and is also the national vice president of the women's branch of the BJP.

Another formidable candidate is Shikha Roy, also known as Shikha Roy (Greater Kailash), who just defeated Saurabh Bharadwaj of the AAP in a close contest.

Wazirpur mla Poonam Sharma won by 11,425 votes.

With 1,01,708 votes, Najafgarh mla Neelam Pehalwan won a landslide win.

In the 2024 lok sabha election, former Union minister Smriti Irani lost to Congressman Kishori Lal from Amethi, although she is still a formidable opponent.

Bansuri Swaraj, the late sushma Swaraj's daughter, was elected to the lok sabha from New Delhi.

If selected, the lady will join the select group of female chief ministers delhi has experienced, which includes Atishi (AAP), sheila dikshit (Congress), and sushma swaraj (BJP).
