The indian diaspora's dread is just beginning to become greater every day. Even more difficult times may lie ahead, as seen by the recent expulsion of 104 indians from the United States. The US has ordered the wholesale deportation of 487 more indian nationals, as verified by the indian authorities. The government is in negotiations with the trump administration to securely repatriate them, Foreign Secretary vikram Misri stated during a press briefing.

This comes after the horrific accounts of the most recent round of indian deportees. indians who landed in amritsar on a military plane described their 40-hour flight in shackles, their inability to simply use restrooms, and how they witnessed people die while crossing borders. Even more horrifying is the fact that some people say they were only crossing the US border when they were abruptly arrested and sent back to India. In response to reports, Misri stated that it was a "legitimate worry" and promised to bring up the matter with US authorities.

But whether the trump administration will even pay attention is still up in the air. They haven't yet responded to the deportees' claims of cruel treatment, but it is hoped that Modi's next trip to the US will yield some encouraging outcomes.
