When love Today, starring pradeep Ranganathan and Ivana, was released in tamil in 2022, it became a huge hit. In addition to appealing to young viewers, the movie solidified pradeep Ranganathan's reputation as a budding filmmaker. producer dil raju first thought of redoing the movie in telugu, but he changed his mind and chose to distribute the Telugu-dubbed version in the telugu states instead. Many people at the time believed that a remake would have made more money, but dil raju remained true to his choice.

But bollywood took the risk and reproduced it as Loveyapa, which was helmed by Advait Chandan of Laal Singh Chaddha fame. Khushi Kapoor and junaid khan played the main parts in the movie. With only 75 lakhs made on its first day, the movie was a complete failure and failed to draw in any viewers. The film was a flop, as seen by the empty cinemas on the first day due to the terrible word-of-mouth.

Loveyapa's failure has brought attention to the demise of remakes once more, with analogies to the disastrous mumbai Police remake Deva from last week. The pattern is obvious! In a market where OTT platforms dominate and people have ready access to original versions, remakes are no longer feasible. Post-pandemic patterns demonstrate that viewers are purposefully avoiding them, and the phrase "remake" itself carries a negative connotation. Today's audiences are very conscious of what is recycled and what is new.

Regardless of the star power involved, producers that continue to take chances on remakes are putting themselves at risk of financial loss. There is enough proof from the last five years, therefore the industry has to stop deceiving viewers by omitting the "remake" label. After the failures of Jaanu, Shaakuntalam, Family Star, and the most recent Game Changer, dil raju was wise to forego creating the love Today remake, which would have further damaged his finances.
