Chennai's Landmark Udhayam theater demolished..!?

Udhayam Theatre considered a landmark of chennai, has been seen as falling down like a deck of cards. A video of the theatre collapsing like a deck of cards has been released, leaving fans in awe. No matter how many multiplex theatres there are in chennai, we are used to hearing the names of theatres like Udhayam, Kamalam, Satyam, and Kaasi. Especially, many people who pass by ashok Pillar, say that Udhayam is a landmark. In rainy and hot seasons, this theatre has given many people a place to relax at its doorstep. Only the well-off would watch films in some theatres. But it is at Udhayam that even the poorest of the poor are allowed to watch films. Some old theatres are being demolished continuously. As a phase, the Kamadenu Theatre, which was called lakshmi Vilas Mansion near Luz Junction, has already been demolished. This theatre has an important place in history. lakshmi Vilas, built by the Portuguese in the 16th century, was a famous theatre on Luz Road in Mylapore. After Mylapore was formally formed and its boundaries were defined in the 20th century, lakshmi Vilas became the Kamadenu Theatre. After that, many films were screened here.
The only cinema in the Mylapore area at that time was Kamadenu. During that period, when a film was shown on holidays and special days, many families would come to this theatre and watch the film. Films were released there since the time when the ticket price was 50 paise. The theatre has survived three generations of cinema enthusiasts. It has screened more than 2,000 films here. After Corona, no large-scale cinema has been screened here. The theatre has been closed due to various reasons including the decline in the number of films. It was announced last year that Udhayam Theatre, one of the famous theatres in chennai, will be closed. It is said that Casagrand has decided to demolish Udhayam Theatre and build a huge 25-story building in the area where the theatre is located. It has been decided to build an apartment building here in the office + residential style. Already, many important old hotels and places are being bought in chennai and high-rise buildings are being built. That is how Udayam theater is now being bought.

After the last Rajinikanth-starrer Vettaiyan movie was released, the demolition work of Udhayam theater was put on hold. Currently, a video of Udhayam theater collapsing like a piece of paper is going viral. This theater, which has been entertaining chennai for many years from the time when tickets were sold for 20 rupees to Rs. 120, has now been demolished, which has disturbed people.
