First things first. Rohit Sharma, coach gautam Gambhir, and the selection committee lead by Ajit Agarkar deserve praise for not taking a chance with Jasprit Bumrah. Prior to the squad's finalization date, the story around team selection was that Bumrah's absence would make the bowling attack weaker and less potent by almost half.

The necessity for bumrah to be in the uae to carry the weight of the bowling attack was loudly expressed by commentators, supporters, and former cricket players. It appears, though, that the team management ignored the outside commotion, and with good reason. Jasprit bumrah was left out of the 15-man team, which was decided by the indian cricket Board (BCCI) in a customary close to midnight press release on Tuesday, february 11, even though scans apparently showed no new injury concerns for him.

Top teams should avoid becoming desperate and consider the long-term effects of actions taken with immediate objectives in mind. It was probably not worth the risk to hasten Bumrah's recuperation from a back injury in order to win the Champions Trophy. For instance, Australia, the world champions, will not have their skipper, Pat Cummins, or the other two members of their renowned three, josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc. For the eight-team event that begins on february 19, the Steve Smith-led squad will have a revamped bowling approach. This shows how confident they are in their assets.
