Preparations in place, try attacking Gaza', Houthi rebels warn Israel...

Abdulmalik al-Houthi, the leader of Yemen's Iran-backed Houthi rebels, threatened an attack against israel in a speech on tuesday (February 11, 2025). He said that if israel resumes attacks on Gaza and does not follow the ceasefire agreement, the Houthi force is fully prepared to attack Israel. Al-Houthi said, "Our hands are on the trigger and if the Israeli enemy attacks the Gaza Strip again, we will immediately retaliate against it."

Houthi attacks and impact on global shipping

Houthi rebels attacked Israeli and other ships in the red Sea. These attacks disrupted global shipping routes, affecting trade and the shipping industry. The Houthis said these attacks were carried out in support of the Palestinians in Gaza.

Gaza ceasefire crisis

Hamas has stopped the process of releasing the hostages, accusing israel of violating the ceasefire agreement. Due to which the ceasefire agreement seems to be weakening. Israeli Defense minister israel Katz instructed the army to remain on high alert. The Houthi rebels are part of Iran's anti-Israel and anti-Western coalition, called the Axis of Resistance. The Houthis have previously fired missiles and drones towards israel hundreds of kilometers north. This coalition is trying to maintain military pressure against the US, israel and their allies in the Middle East.

Amid uncertainty over the Gaza ceasefire agreement, this threat by Houthi rebels can further increase tensions in the Middle East. If israel attacks Gaza, Houthi rebels can take military retaliation, which can increase instability in the entire region. The Israeli army has been put on high alert and global powers are keeping an eye on the situation.
